Hepcdac is consumed with another antiviral medication (sofosbuvir) to treat chronic (long-lasting) hepatitis C, a viral infection of the liver. These medications together helps in reducing the amount of hepatitis C virus in your body, which further helps your immune system fight the infection and may help your liver recover. Chronic hepatitis C infection can cause serious liver problems such as scarring (cirrhosis), or liver cancer.
In using this medication you may have to deal with side effects such as nausea, headache, weakness, fatigue, the breakdown of the redcell, diarrhea, drowsiness, dizziness and skin rash. If your reactions persist or become worse over time take the help of your healthcare provider right away.
The dosage of this medication should be determined by the doctor based on your age, overall medical history, and current condition. The usual dose in adults for treating chronic hepatitis C is 60 mg, taken orally one tablet daily for a period of 12 weeks.
